A blanket 50 mph limit applies to the entire route and is regularly speed-trapped these days by mobile radar units.
Also monitored by police bikes and cars (some marked, some unmarked) and occasionally by helicopter.

COMMON HAZARDS :

- Vehicles coming at you on the wrong side of the road
- Arriving at recent crash site(s)
- Diesel spills (sometimes alleged to be deliberate local sabotage !)
- Random grit dropped on the road by various trucks
- Sheep

In spite of all this, it is one of THE best motorcycling roads in England ! It is one of my local routes and I love it - even though I crashed recently on "The Balcony". Hey ho.
